How to Increase Your Lead-Gen With Short-Form Video
It’s no mystery that short-form video amplifies your expertise, attracts clients, and positions your brand as a trusted resource. By showing up in an easily-consumable format where your audience already hangs out, they’ll discover you simply by virtue of their browsing habits triggering keywords and topics that their platform of choice “thinks” they’re interested in.
But let’s be real — most business owners struggle to create video consistently, let alone in a way that generates real results. Why?
Because they start with the wrong question. They ask: “What should I post?” instead of “What does my audience need to know?”
Here’s the fix — a simple, repeatable method I use to quickly create engaging short-form videos:
Start with these two questions:
What do I wish my clients were more aware of? (Make their lives easier.)
What common mistakes or misconceptions is everyone making? (Educate and correct.)
Brainstorm Freely
Get messy. Dump your ideas into a notes app (I recommend Notion!), notebook, or voice memos. No judgement, just get stuff out of your head and onto a recordable medium.
Use AI Strategically
Take your rough notes and run them through ChatGPT (I prefer the newest 4.5 model). Ask it to create a casual, Q&A-style script to clearly structure your thoughts.
Film Conversationally
Forget scripts and stiff deliveries. Have someone off-camera ask you those AI-generated questions naturally. Work out your thoughts in conversation. Even getting into a debate with your assistant will sharpen your thoughts and ultimately translate into more powerful soundbites.
Edit for Engagement
Keep it simple — clear captions, B-roll and supplementary images where necessary, a subtle music soundtrack. Lead with a strong hook and arrange your soundbites such that each idea seamlessly flows into the next. And end with a satisfying takeaway and a call-to-action (“send me a DM”).
This approach does two crucial things:
Positions you as a trusted expert by consistently providing valuable insights.
Builds positive associations — when people learn from you, they trust you. When they trust you, they’ll hire you.
Stop chasing likes and vanity metrics. Instead, create content that actually makes a meaningful connection with the people who will discover you online.
